Wear resistance evaluation

At present, there are three main methods for evaluating the wear resistance of PVC FLOOR in domestic standards. The first is the general abrasion method, which is the earliest abrasion resistance evaluation method for wood laminate flooring. The second is the FRICK-TABER falling sand abrasion method formulated by referring to EU standards. The third method is to indirectly determine the wear resistance classification by citing the method formulated by international standards by measuring the content of PVC resin in the sample, which is rarely used in domestic practice. Through practical comparison, the FRICK-TABER falling sand abrasion method is closer to the abrasion condition of PVC FLOOR in use in principle, avoiding the uncertainty caused by the irregular change of abrasive cloth roughness caused by material filling in the general abrasion method, and the subjective influence of human observation and judgment is eliminated in the grading so that the grading results of abrasion resistance are more stable and comparable. It can be seen that the FRICK-TABER falling sand abrasion method is more suitable for the test and evaluation of the abrasion resistance of PVC FLOOR.


Slip resistance evaluation

PVC FLOOR is widely used in elderly care facilities, kindergartens, schools, and other places, and these places have very specific requirements on the anti-skid property of the ground. The anti-skid performance test method of PVC FLOOR products is relatively simple. The main domestic standards all refer to the test method in GB/T 4100 "Ceramic Tiles". The principle is to test the 4S rubber test gasket under a certain load coefficient of static friction to obtain the anti-slip properties of the samples. In addition, the method of German standard DIN 51130 is also used in some foreign and domestic construction projects for testing. Tilt the angle until a non-slip safe angle is measured, and rate the sample's slip resistance. At present, no matter which method is used, there is no clear limit requirement for safety in the standard. The anti-skid evaluation is closely related to the actual application. Specific working conditions need to be considered, and it needs to be compatible with existing site safety laws and regulations. Therefore, in the formulation of subsequent product standards, we should further explore anti-skid test methods and grading requirements that are more suitable for PVC FLOOR products.


Antibacterial performance evaluation

The chemical properties of plastic products are relatively stable, and it is generally believed that they are not easily decomposed by microorganisms. However, according to the actual use of PVC FLOOR, a considerable number of products appear moldy during use. The reason is that the main component of PVC resin is a long-chain polymer, which is not easy to be decomposed and absorbed by microorganisms, but the processing aids added to it, such as stabilizers, plasticizers, fillers, antioxidants, etc., make PVC FLOOR products in the actual use process, nutrients are provided for the growth of microorganisms. Therefore, as a plastic product, PVC FLOOR itself does not have antibacterial properties, and its antibacterial properties need to be realized by adding antibacterial agents. Among the current domestic PVC FLOOR product standards, only GB/T 34440-2017 puts forward requirements for antifungal properties, and other standards do not involve antibacterial (mold/bacteria) requirements, nor do they specify test methods. The lack of evaluation standards has resulted in uneven product quality. In the later stage, the existing antibacterial test methods for plastic products and wood-plastic composite products should be widely referenced, targeted antibacterial test methods should be formulated, and clear classification requirements should be put forward according to the use environment for further guidance.
